Question by : How do you become a foster parent or adopt a child that’s already in the system?
I know of two siblings ages 3 and 4 that are fostered by their great aunt (a 58 year old woman). They were taken away form their bio parents. Not sure of exactly why but do know both parents have been in and out of jail for various reasons such as larceny, drug possession with intent to sell, grand theft, fraud, and battery combined. The children live with the aunt and their bio father but aunt has custody. They mostly spend time with their “Grandma” though not the aunt. In this circumstance they are not looked after and are outside most of the day after school. Mother just recently got out of jail. She is not supposed to have unsupervised contact with children but they often spend the weekend with her unsupervised. Is this a reason to contact DCF? I am a teacher and would like to adopt or foster them. How would I go about doing this?

yes call DCFS and see what they can do and suggest to them that you would like to become a foster parent and see what you can do to take them
